Scratching animals in the attic?
A future Fort Lauderdale customer thinks they may hear something on the roof or in the walls, but
aren't sure and so let the problem slide. The customer detects the
scratching more and more over the next few days until they know for sure that there is an animal
or rodent inside the attic and not
just on top the roof.
For rat problems in the attic of a home, the noises
are heard mostly at night. Hearing the critters in the attic at after
midnight is one of
the clues that the problem is rats in the attic and not squirrels. The
noises that these 2 types of rodents make are indistinguishable.

A far smaller amount of Weston rat control jobs for us begins when the customer sees rat
or mouse evidence (chewing, droppings, feces) or the rodent itself inside the
home proper. The activity inside the house is almost always first
detected in the kitchen. The
kitchen and bathroom is where Fort Lauderdale rats in the attic can come out into the house where plumbing
pipes pass through the drywall. The kitchen is much more common than the
bathroom because of all the food items there to attract the rats.
Home Inspection, Trap The House, Rat
Control at Entries
Fort Lauderdale rat control come out to the house with the rat problem and inspects the roof, eave, crawlspace, and attic to confirm the
problem animal is rat (as opposed to
bats in the attic, pigeons, squirrel, or mice in the attic) and (by far the most
important step of rat control), to discover precisely where the Fort Lauderdale rats are getting into the house
attic. Where are the holes the rats are using?
On the initial pest control visit, our Weston exterminator sets about
15 traps for the rats and in most cases
begin to seal up the home. For rat problems in Fort Lauderdale, all of the traps are set in the attic
- if there is one (if there is no attic, then other rat control tricks have to
be employed). The attic is where the heart of the rat or mouse problem is. To
trap and remove all of the Coral Springs rats, trapping the attic thoroughly
is vital. Traps set only by the attic hatch have a much lower chance
of killing the pests than if the traps are laid where the animals in
the house are being heard.
Removing
dead rats, re-baiting rat traps, re-evaluating the exterior
Fort Lauderdale rat removal returns to the house around the 4th day (the timing is up to the customer,
we bill per service visit) to clear out the
dead rats from the attic. For most problems, all of the attic mice or rats have been
caught and killed on this visit and the noises in the house have stopped.
The Weston animal control job could be closed at this point, but our rat
exterminators keep trapping to make sure leave nothing to chance.
The best time to close out a rats in the attic problem is at least 1 week after the
last catch once the home has been sealed from rats being able to get in.
Decontamination Of The Attic
We make our 2nd return trip about 7 to 10 days after the 1st return trip (but
this varies dependent on the number of rats caught at the first return trip as
well as whether or not continued noises are heard). During this week, there should be no
animal rustling noises in the attic, ceiling, or walls and when we check the
traps, the rat traps should all be empty.
The attic decontamination is carried out on this last visit, now that rats have been completely eliminated and the home rodent-proofed.
The attic clean up takes between 1.5 and 3 hours for most houses depending on the
attic size, number of rat droppings, and the degree of attic access. Fecal dropping are removed from the insulation by a small portable vacuum
carried through the attic, and then the attic is fogged out with Bac-A-Zap
enzyme cleaner.
